Doerksen leads TWU to split



A strong 13-3 run late in the game sealed the Spartans' victory over the UVic Vikes Saturday.

Forwards Jacob Doerksen with 35 points and Tyrell Mara with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds led the Trinity Western University men's basketball team to an 83-71 win over the University of Victoria on Saturday.



The victory inside the Langley Events Centre earned the Spartans a weekend split with the Vikes and improves their record to 3-2, while the loss drops the Vikes to 3-2.



Doerksen's 35 points were three off his career high at TWU of 38, which he set against the University of Saskatchewan Huskies on Nov. 7, 2008.



TWU's CIS record is 41 points, which is held by Adam Friesen.
