Stefan Nastic at 6-foot-11, leads stacked 2010 Toronto High School Basketball All-Stars
People have been looking up to Stefan Nastic for years. At 6-foot-11, Nastic is considered to be Canada’s tallest high school graduating basketball player and good at just about everything he does with the round ball.
A scholastic wonder, he has hit retirement age — not from the game, but from the one he plays at Thornhill Secondary. Now, it’s on to university with bigger and better things for the youngster who was born in Serbia 17 years ago.
Nastic has been selected as one of five players for the Toronto Star’s all-star boys’ basketball team, joining Leon Alexander, Julian Clarke, Matthew Wright and Manvinder Sohota.
Dozens of schools have lined up trying to get Nastic to commit to their program. Nastic finally made his choice — Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., one of the world’s top academic schools.
He’ll be shuffling between the U.S., Canada and Serbia, where he has spent the past four summers playing basketball with Serbian national junior teams. As for Basketball Canada, he shrugged it off.
