Hey what's up everyone! I'm back in school at Notre Dame Prep. I just got done with workouts for today. Its preseason and we've just been getting after it on open gyms, workouts, and the weight room. I personally, have been working on being a better leader and distinguishing myself at all times on the court. I feel that I have come a long long way from last year, and I just want to build more on my success. As a team I feel that were more deep than last year and with the talent that we have now on our roster, I feel we can finish the job of last years team and get that championship. Our goal is to finish in the top 5 teams in the country, and as long as we work hard and get after it, we can accomplish that.

A lot of people have been asking about my recruiting and how my visit to Kansas State went. Well it went pretty well, I loved the atmosphere of the school and how the team is a pretty big deal throughout the town. Manhattan is a college town, and I really got to experience that this past weekend. I also like the coaching staff, their approach to the game, and loved their idea of how I'd fit within their system. The football game was lot of fun and although there is only a population of about 55,000, their is always something to do.

As far as other visits I plan on visiting the University of Charlotte in the near future as well as the University of Memphis on October 12. I want to set maybe one more after that. I'm still up in the air as to whether a list will be made or not. I kind of changed the date for my decision from sometime next year to November 28. I chose this date because it would have been my mothers birthday if she was still alive. This game has always been for her, and I haven't lost sight of that.

That's it for now! Check me out next time!

Matthew

What's up everyone! My name is Matthew Atewe, and I'm a 6'9 JR PF (2013) who's 18 years old and attends Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg Massachusetts. I just want to let everyone know that I am honored to be given the privilege do blog for BasketballBuzz.

I'm just coming off a great National team experience with Team Canada. I was given the opportunity to play in both the U18 FIBA qualifiers in Brazil (finished 3rd), as well as in the Nike Global Challenge in Washington D.C. (Finished 2nd). Both of these experiences would have to be the best basketball experiences that I ever had.

Just to be given the opportunity to represent my country twice in one summer is amazing. The whole journey was different from anything I ever saw or participated in. From the team dynamics, to the different cultures (within Brazil) to even signing autographs, it was just an amazing process and journey to be apart of.

The main thing that captured me the most was that within the team there were no egos and everyone was on the same page towards our goals. Although we came up short, we played very hard and left it all on the floor (both in Brazil and at the Nike Global Challenge). I just want to thank the head coach for both teams, Roy Rana for giving me the opportunity.

I am now currently in Louisville, Kentucky playing in the Eddie Ford Bluegrass Classic. I am playing with the Northern Kings out from Toronto, Canada. I think that we got a good opportunity to do well and to make some noise by the end of July. Some of the players on the team include: James Sylvester, Donovan Hastings, Emmanuel Owootah and many others. We all want to do something great this summer and I think that things can get rolling starting with this tournament.

As far as recruiting, I am totally wide open as I won't be making a list anytime soon. I love the process though, contrast to other people. Just the fact that you are talking to coaches from different schools, and everyone trying to give you an idea of where you should go, is just fun and exciting for me. Just to be able to go through all of this is humbling and I thank God for allowing all of this in my life.

That’s it for now. I’ll let you know what’s new next time!
