UBC-O Heat Hit Recruiting Home-run with Mitch Goodwin, BC's Top Point Guard
It hasn't taken long for Pete Guarasci to make is make in the BC Basketball recruiting circles.
The Recently hired head coach is leveraging is Canadian Basketball experience and stints with the national program with hopes of turning around a Heat team that went 3-15 in their opening season of CIS Men's basketball competition.
Yet as late as it is in the recruiting process for the upcoming 2012-13 season, the Kelowna-based program has managed to hit what can only be described as a ninth-inning home run.
New Heat head coach Pete Guarasci, the former Olympian and Simon Fraser Clan standout, said Thursday he was thrilled to be bringing Kelowna Owls’ graduating point guard Mitch Goodwin into the fold for next season.
Generally regarded as the best high school point guard in the province this past season, Goodwin was off the recruiting radar after deciding to continue his development in the U.S. prep school system next season, but had a change of heart and decided to play for a head coach with plenty of experience wearing the maple leaf in competition.
