Raptors Bring Out Gretzky and 3-Year, $36 Million Contract To Lure Steve Nash To Toronto
The Toronto Raptors wasted no time, opening up the NBA free-agent period with a bang offer to bring Canada's heralded basketball son back to his country.
Toronto’s contingent included minority owner Larry Tanenbaum, president/GM Bryan Colangelo, head coach Dywane Casey and former Raptor and Canadian national team coach Jay Triano. Michael Grange of Sportsnet.ca reported the Raptors also enlisted the aid of hockey icon Wayne Gretzky as part of their video presentation to Nash and his agent, Bill Duffy.
Basically, its looking like it will come down to the opportunity for Steve Nash to further elevate his name, brand and the game of basketball to levels never seen before in Canada.
On the other hand, Nash knows a move to the T.Dot will most likely not result in championship, but who knows maybe Nash can convince a few of his good buddies to form a big three in Toronto.
