NBL Canada Provides Stable Opportunity For Canadian Center Micah Brand
Never heard of Micah Brand? Neither did we, and apparently he's Canadian as well and has ambitions of making the Canadian National Basketball Team.
Brand will be one of the Mill Rats three Canadian players. That's right. Marie Brand was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. Brand was granted dual citizenship in 2009 and hoped to try out for Canada's national team. He is considering making a run at the national team.
"There was a point where I stopped thinking about making the NBA about three or four years ago," Brand said. "For me, the only way to get on the court with the United States is to play against them.
Brand is a 6-11, 270 lbs Center who played his NCAA Collegiate ball for Steve Lappas UMass and has professional experience playing in Europe.
Last season he played in Lebanon and averaged 15.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and one block per game. The well-traveled international veteran has played professionally abroad for 10 years in Lebanon, Korea, Paraguay, China, Argentina, Mexico, Chile, and Finland. He worked out for the New Jersey Nets in 2005 and the Philadelphia 76ers in 2007.
