Below is a list of the 28 Canadian Freshmen that are set to begin their collegiate journeys in the upcoming 2012-13 NCAA Men’s College Basketball season.

The 2012 Canadian NCAA Class of true freshmen is highlighted by Power Forward Anthony Bennett (UNLV), Shooting Guard Nick Stauskas (Michigan), Small Forward Negus Webster-Chan (Missouri), Point Guard Olivier Hanlan (Boston College) and versatile bigmen Stefan Jankovic (Missouri).

A closer look reveals a list loaded with perimeter players, specially at shooting guard position, with nine players joining the NCAA ranks. The point guard position is also well represented as eight players look to quarterback their teams and while trying to improve their individual stock.

When it comes to city representation, as expected, the clear winner is the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), with fourteen players hailing from as far east as the city of Whitby and all the way to Burlington Ontario.

The city of Montreal continues to produce talented players and is well represented with six players hoping to follow in the footsteps of NBA’ers Joel Anthony, Samuel Dalembert and recently drafted Kris Joseph.

British Columbia, a province/state with strong NCAA (Kelly Olynyk - Gongaza & Marc Trasolini-Santa Clara) and now NBA tradition (Steve Nash, Robert Sacre) checks in with just two players, including one of only two centers.

Both Harvard and the Missouri Tigers locked up multiple Canadian freshmen in hopes of luring more talent in the upcoming years. Harvard’s roster will feature three Canadian players, including 6’5" junior Laurent Rivard who hails from St.Bruno, Quebec.

Out of this group, the only current player generating “NBA Buzz” is Anthony Bennett. The Brampton kid will have "all eyes on him" after following similar paths as current Canadian NBA players as Cory Joseph and Tristan Thompson.

Despite not housing many high majors as the past few years, the 2012 NCAA Canadian Class is experienced, well balanced and features an array of versatile players who when called upon will be ready to take charge and rep the Red and White like its never been done before.
