Eastern Washington Eagles Pound Victoria Vikes To Stay Undefeated On Canadian Tour

The Eastern Washington Eagles stayed undefeated on their Canadian tour by dropping the Victoria Vikes 77-58.

Eastern Washington was paced by Freshmen Danny Powell's double-double, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Collin Chiverton continued strong showing with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

For Victoria Michael Acheampong had a team-high 16 points and Terrell Evans added 14 points and 7 rebounds.

The Eagles held the Vikes to just nine second-quarter points and grabbed a 38-24 lead at half-time.

Victoria cut into the deficit in the third-quarter and trailed by only seven points heading into the final 10 minutes.

Michael Acheampong connected on sweet mid-range pull-up begin the fourth as the lead was cut to five at 54-49. Things slowly fell apart after that as Powell caught fire on his way to an 11-point fourth-quarter helping the Eagles stay undefeated at 3-0 on their Canadian Tour.

Both teams struggled with turnovers and the game was plagued by poor foul shooting on both sides, the Eagles shooting (5/11 45%) and Vikes (14-21 66%).

Eastern Washington will go at it again tomorrow against the Fraser Valley Cascades.

The Vikes will regroup and return to action against the Bishop Gaiters on Oct 4, they will get another shot at a NCAA Basketball opponent when it welcomes the Seattle Mountaineers to McKinnon Gymnasium on Oct 12.
