Hip-Hop Artist The Game To Coach Top NBA Talent

Former G-Unit rapper Game is taking advantage of two indefinite delays—of his album R.E.D Album, and the NBA lockout—to give back to his community in Compton, California. The rapper is serving as coach for the Drew League's Go Ham basketball team, and he's called on some professional hoopsters to the court. So far, Game's team has recruited NBA rookie Derrick Williams, the Lakers' Ron Artest and Kevin Durant. Game still has his eye on Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose to round out his starting lineup.

Even though playing ball is taking up most of his time these days, don't expect Game to give up on the rap game anytime soon. “Being a rapper is definitely cooler,” he said. “People don’t even know some NBA players. If you ain’t Kobe [Bryant] or Carmelo [Anthony] they might just walk past them and say, ‘Oh, you’re tall. What do you do, play basketball?’ As a rapper, you get all the perks.”

Who will the Toronto Raptors be targeting with their pick?

So with that in mind, who will the Raptors be targeting with their pick? Well, if they DO manage to move up to the first or second slot, they'll take Duke's Kyrie Irving or Arizona's Derrick Williams - in that order of preference - and thank their lucky stars for the privilege. Irving is a standout point guard, a natural playmaker that can score and defend, and he'd immediately shore up Raptors shot-creation hole and leadership void. Williams is a smart and explosive forward that can shoot, score and rebound. He would fit in nicely in a frontcourt with Ed Davis and Andrea Bargnani, mostly because he would allow Bargnani to float outside on offense at times because he can score in the post (although his 57 percent three-point shooting accuracy would probably see him drift outside every once in a while, too). Outside of those two, the Raptors are going to have to make some compromises with their selection, as the pick

Battle of NBAer's: Arizona's Derrick Williams & Texas Tristan Thompson

Tristan Thompson knows he has one shot to make a first impression that sticks. One first, best chance to get in the other guy's mind like a nagging doubt that never leaves.

But now Texas faces a near-pro — and he'll be a lottery pick whenever he wants — at the art of the blocked shot and the mind games that go with it. Arizona sophomore forward Derrick Williams is as built as Thompson is lanky. More importantly, he's already a master at the killer timing that Thompson is still developing.
