It’s back. After a one-year hiatus, the NBA Summer League will return to Las Vegas.
The addition of the 2021 Canadian NBA Draft class of Joshua Primo (Spurs), Chris Duarte (Pacers), Dalano Banton (Raptors) have pushed Canada’s first and second-round selections total to 27 Canadian players since 2010.
Following a busy 2021 NBA Draft night which culminated with Canada increasing its NBA player count while also widening it’s international margin as the top exporter of NBA talent.
Furthermore, and as expected, multiple undrafted Canadians were signed, as Eugene Omoruyi and A.J Lawson were quickly and respectively signed by the Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat.
Scattered across twelve (13) NBA teams a total 16 Canadians have been confirmed on 2021 NBA Summer League rosters.
Returnees include Mychal Mulder, Mfiondu Kabengele, Ignas Braizdeikas.
On the international front, the Denver Nuggets made former Ottawa Gee-Gees All-Canadian, Caleb Agada just the second U Sports basketball player to sign a NBA Summer League deal.
The Toronto Raptors and head coach Nurse will continue the evaluation process of former Southern Methodist stud Isiaha Mike. The six-foot-eight guard followed up a solid season in Germany with a strong showing at Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team camp.
