Westbrook’s very own buzzer beater sends Lakers into an overtime win in Toronto

Look at Drake’s face! Put this picture in the Louvre! In Toronto, Russell Westbrook overcame it all to send his team into overtime. The triple-double King is back. And LeBron James just 20 off passing The Mailman, Karl Malone in all-time points. But what of the angel Gabriel?

It’s on record from everyone from Shaq to an even bigger voice on social media.

They’re calling this the worst season in purple and gold history.

The less said about the Los Angeles Lakers year the better, but the trolls trending on Twitter won’t stop typing about it.

So much so Nina Westbrook has taken to the platforms herself to defend her husband from the Skip Bayless’ of the world.

It seems everyone wants to throw Russell Westbrook under the team bus. We’ve even talked about the turnover machine’s butterfingers. But the triple-double King is still an alpha next to James and Anthony Davis.

We just never expected a season like this.

But things are seldom as they seem. You only have to watch HBO’s new series ‘Winning Time’ adapted from Jeff Pearlman’s ‘Showtime’ book based on the 80’s Lakers, to see that. In this time of hazing history like rookies, even the logo (played by Jason Clarke), Jerry West can get it.

Meanwhile, back in the present day, the Lakers current point guard wants to change all of this. And in The 6 alongside number six, he made a pretty decent start with seconds left to go in the game.

Drake’s courtside face said it all as the Russ of old growled in an apex predator crouch. Why not celebrate? Even if it isn’t your own team!

Certified clutch, boy.

Roaring against the Raptors, Westbrook sent the game into overtime in Toronto. Call it redemption, or revenge for the blowout the Raps gave the Lakers back in Hollywood earlier this week. But zero to hero, Russell practically called game with that shot. His triple-double of 22 points and 10 in both rebounds and assists spearheaded the Lake Show into the extra period.

An OT that saw AB (Avery Bradley) and LBJ do the rest for a 128-123 win here in Canada.

The King is about to deliver himself past The Mailman, as ‘Bron’s monster 36 point night leaves him 20 points off passing Karl Malone to become number two when it comes to total points in NBA history. First being another Laker legend in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who James moved ahead of last month in all-time points scored including playoffs.

The 30,000 points, 10,000 rebounds and 10K assists sole member also filled up the box-score with nine rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots. LeBron did everything, short of filming the next episode of his talk show ‘The Shop’ with Drake courtside, getting his cornrows done.

Veteran Avery Bradley had 14 points and first year player, who really doesn’t feel like a rookie, Austin Reaves had 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists. This was sorely needed for a short-handed Lakers team who had Carmelo Anthony, Wayne Ellington and a recently returned to form Talen Horton-Tucker joining Anthony Davis in street clothes.

But it was a new addition alongside D.J. Augustin, Wenyen Gabriel that was an angel for the city of those winged guardians. The x-factor joined the starting five for the Lakers and started the game with 10 points before getting into some early foul trouble. His hustle and heart asked for more, and he finished the game with 17 points and a clutch block on this year All-star Fred VanVleet. That was all she wrote as the Lakers snapped an 11 game road skid.

But this is just one of 13 games the Lakers have left this season to reverse their fortunes and get lucky before they look like a bunch of daft punks.

It’s time to really take care.
