Wake Forest Demon Deacons Visit Canada, Battle Brock Badgers & Ryerson Rams

The University of Wake Forest Deamon Deacons will visit Canada for a two-game NCAA vs. CIS basketball exhibition series against the Brock Badgers and Ryerson Rams.

The Deamon Deacons will play the Brock Badgers on Friday Oct. 19th and the Ryerson Rams on Saturday Oct. 20th 2011.

This is the first time the Demon Deacons have crossed the border into Canada and Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik understands the importance of getting his team ready for the 2012-13 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) season.

Wake Forest struggled last year and finished at the bottom of the ACC standings with a conference record of 4-13 and to close out the year at 13-18 overall.

Despite the struggles, the Demon Deacons, boasts two talented players in Junior Travis Mckie (16.1 PPG) and Senior C.J Harris (16.7 PPG).

The Ryerson Rams are coming off of their best season in the programs history, bench boss Roy Rana led his team all the way to the CIS Final 8 (Canada’s March Madness) after posting a 24-19 overall record which was good enough to finish five games over .500% at 13-9 in Ontario University Association (OUA) conference games.

The Rams return a more experienced group and are lead by Junior guards Jahmal Jones (15.4 PPG, 4.3 APG) and Jordan Gauthier (15.5 PPG, 6.7 RPG).

Ryerson went 0-5 in games against NCAA teams in 2011-12, dropping games by a wide margin – at home against the Baylor Bears 71-93, including the road games against Rhode Island 66-97, Stanford 47-100 and the Santa Clara Broncos 60-91.

The Brock Badgers squeezed in the OUA West Playoffs and lost a hard-fought CIS Men’s Basketball playoff road game against the Windsor Lancers. The Badgers are coached by third-year head Brad Rootes (Former All-Star player with the Badgers) and will look to build on last years campaign.

Junior guard Didi Mukendi (CIS ROY) averages 11.5 points per game and will once again be the focus for the Badgers.
