Ottawa, ON (BasketballBuzz) — The defending champs needed no more than a quarter to dispatch the #8 seed Victoria Vikes on their way to an easy 83-46 opening victory at the 2013 CIS Men’s Final 8 championships at ScotiaBank Place.
The Ravens broken open a close first quarter that ended 19-16 in favor of Carleton by holding the Vikes scoreless for over 12 minutes while limiting the Canada West runner-ups to just 3 points in the second quarter.

Head Coach Dave Smart emptied his bench for much of the second-half, allowing his upcoming talent to get some valuable minutes on the big stage as every Raven player over eight minutes.
For the Vikes their lone bright spot was Michael Acheampong who finished with 13 points and four rebounds. Tyrell Evans like the rest of Vikes player struggled but managed 8 points.
