Lakehead’s Jylisa Williams 50 points, one shy of all-time U SPORTS basketball record

Lakehead’s Jylisa Williams scored a career-high 50 points to break the Ontario University Association (OUA) record.

Lakehead’s Jylisa Williams torched the Toronto Varsity Blues to break the Ontario University Association (OUA) single women’s basketball scoring record with a 50-point game.

William’s 50 point effort is just the fifth in U Sports women’s basketball history and is one point shy of the all-time single game regular season record of 51 points. Set by Winnipeg’s Sandra Carroll on February 17th, 1994 against the Regina Cougars.

Acadia Axewomen point guard Haley McDonald tied Caroll’s all-time record and set the U Sports basketball playoffs record with her own 51 point game against the UPEI Panthers on March 2nd, 2019.

Brock Badgers Candi Clarkson-Lohr’s 49 points previously stood as the OUA’s all-time high for 32 years.

Other players that have scored 50 points in CIS/USPORTS game Saint Mary’s Carol Turney-Loos on Dec 3, 1976 against Mout Allison. Bishop’s Deb Huband also went for a career-high 50 points on July 1, 1979.
