The Laurentian Voyageurs hopes of upsetting the No.1 ranked team in the country quickly faded in the second-half as the Carleton Ravens defense flexed it’s muscle holding the Voyageurs to just 19 points in the 98-51 blow-out win to improve to 10-0 in OUA conference action.
The Ravens started off slow as Tyson Hinz picked-up three early fouls and was forced to the bench. Laurentian took full advantage behind the hot shooting of Manny Pasquale’s seven first-quarter points — forcing the Ravens to trail 19-16 after one for only the second time in conference play.
The Voyageurs opened-up the second-quarter by knocking down four-straight three-pointers and extended the lead to 32-22 with 5:47 minutes to play before half-time.
Ravens Head Coach Dave Smart had seen enough and called a timeout to stop the bleeding. Carleton held Laurentian scoreless the rest of quarter and grabbed a 38-32 lead at half-time.
It was one way traffic from there as the Ravens’ extended scorching and extended the lead thanks to a 24-7 run — outscoring Laurentian 37-15 for 75-47 lead further limiting the home team to just 4 points in the final 10 minutes.
Philip Scrubb lead the way with 18 first-half points and finished with 21 in just 23 minutes.
Tyson Hinz scored 14 of his game-high 23 points in a explosive 37 point quarter for the Ravens.
Willy Manigat also added 16 points on 3-of-4 treys.
The Voyageurs were led by Manny Pasquale 18 points and fall to 2-8 having dropped fourth straight.
The Ravens hit will the road again next week as they face the improving Ryerson Rams and Toronto Blues.
Laurentian’s schedule softens up a bit next with games at winless Queens and RMC.
