Canadian point guard Miles Sadler’s clutch shooting and precise passing led Canada to a thrilling 72-63 comeback victory over Egypt at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup.

The 5’11” point guard, part of the 2006 class, was outstanding for Canada. Sadler controlled the Canadian offense throughout the game and came up big when it mattered most, finishing with the third most points ever scored by a Canadian in a FIBA U17 World Cup game.

His stat line was impressive: 30 points, 7 assists, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. He shot an efficient 9 for 15 from the field and a perfect 10 for 11 from the free throw line in just 26 minutes of play.

Sadler’s scoring outburst was part of a dramatic comeback for Canada. The Egyptians got hot early, knocking down five three-pointers in the first quarter to take a 22-15 lead. Egypt extended their lead to double-digits early in the second quarter and went into halftime controlling the game at 38-31.

In the second half, Canada chipped away at the lead thanks to Sadler’s nice passing and the finishing ability of Maxime Meyer. By the end of the third quarter, Canada had cut the deficit to just one point, 50-51.
