In a sloppy and turnover filled affair, the Concordia Stingers held tournament host Dalhousie Tigers scoreless for over four minutes in a key stretch of the fourth quarter to earn a close 79-75 victory and advance to the Finals of the 2011 Rod 2011 Rod Shoveller Finals.
The Stingers led 44-37 at the break but failed to put way the unranked and rebuilding Tigers.
Freshmen Ritchie Kanza Mata (Toronto, ON) poured in a game-high 24 points and helped the Tigers take a 10 point lead at 69-59 with six minutes left in the game.
Concordia Head Coach John Dore called a timeout and his troops responded with their trademark full court pressure and regained the lead as Jerome Blake and Decee Krah connected on back-to-back three-pointers to spark the Stingers comeback.
Krah racked up 19 points and Kyle Desmarais fought early foul trouble to finish with 17 points for the Stingers.
Other notables for the Tigers included William Yengue 14 points, seven rebounds and Stephen Lopez contributed nicely with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Concordia will face the undefeated ST.FX-Men in a highly anticipate match-up between two Top 10 teams.
