Raptors' fifth overall pick, Jonas Valanciunas, won't join the team as he's currently with Lietuvos Rytas and focused on his current season.

The Toronto Raptors 2011-12 campaign is set to kick off in a few weeks, and it appears that the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Jonas Valanciunas, won’t be suiting up for the Dinos.

“I’m currently with Lietuvos Rytas, and I’m not really interested in those talks, Valanciunas said. “There’s a lot to be done here. I’m in Lietuvos Rytas, not the Raptors.”

The Raptors’ administration we’re hopeful of negotiating a contract which would allow the release of the highly touted Lithuanian bigmen.

“Jonas will stay in Lietuvos Rytas until the end of the season,” Rytas said. “This has been agreed, and we are not going to break the agreement.”
