RSEQ Playoffs: Stingers & Rouge et Or for CIS Quebec basketball supremacy

The Quebec Conference got under way with its 2011 CIS playoffs campaign, as expected the two top teams in the conference advanced and will face each other in a crowded downtown Montreal Gym. The (#2) Laval Rouge et Or and (#1) Concordia Stingers advanced to the 2011 RQSE conference final

Mcgill Redmen 75 – Laval Rouge et Or 85
The 1st quarter proved to be the difference for the Mcgill Redmen as they came out flat, scoring only 6 points in the first quarter. Laval got strong performances from their key players and are on their way to playing for a chance to represent Quebec CIS Basketball on the national stage, once again.

Up Next: A road victory against conference rival Concordia Stingers, and the Rouge et Or will have a shot at testing their limits against the Final 8 teams in the country.

UQAM Citadins 74 – Concordia Stingers 89
UQAM came out to play early and held the lead throughout much of the game, very similar to the other four times theses two teams met in conference games. In the end, the Stingers’ backcourt proved too much for UQAM, a team that the Stingers went 5-0 against this year. It wasn’t easy, though.

The Stingers home gym is one of the smaller ones across CIS Basketball schools. It also provides a great playing atmosphere for an intense game.
