7.1 EarthquakeLA suspends 2019 NBA Summer League

A wild and scary moment, unlike anything seen before was widely capture and witness across social media when a powerful 7.1 magnitude earthquake with an epiccentre of Ridgecrest, CA shock the Las Vegas Thomas and Mack center shutting down the the highly anticipated NBA Summer League debut of Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett and forcing the NBA to postponed all games until further notice.

The New Orleans Pelicans held a 80-74 lead over the New York Knicks with 7:53 remaining in the 4th quarter.

The scoreboard was dangling and the massive speakers above were shaking for over 10 minutes.

Zion Williamson 11 points and 3 rebounds was shutdown after playing just nine first-half minutes and didn’t return after half-time due to a knee-to-knee collision.

RJ Barrett struggled in his first NBA game with 10 points and 5 rebounds on 4-of-18 shooting, including 1-for-8 from the three point-line.

The NBA also suspended Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs game that was taking place over at nearby Cox Pavilion. The Magic were comfortably ahead 75-59.

The Phoenix Suns versus the Denver Nuggets game which was set to start at the conclusion of the Pelicans and Knicks.

Ridgecrest was hit with a foreshock 6.4-magnitude earthquake less than 48 hours ago, and according to multiple reports there could be more on the way.
