Apparently, Tristan Thompson has hired an agent an plans to include his name amongst the Candidates.
Thompson’s impressive play has earned plenty of accolades in his freshmen season with the Texas Longhorns.
A week ago Thompson went public and announced that he was coming back to Texas to play alongside fellow Canadians Myck Kabongo, Cory Joseph, Kevin Thomas.
Texas was ousted by the Derrick Williams and the Arizona Wildcats in the 2nd round of the 2011 NCAA Championship tournament.
NCAA Freshmen of the year Jared Sullinger will return to Ohio State for another year essentially freeing up a top 10 spot.
Again players have the opportunity to withdraw their names, perhaps Tristan is just testing the market. Regardless of his decision, it’s only a matter of time another Canadian joins the NBA ranks.
Having Tristan Thompson in the NBA will be huge for many Canadians and Canadian Basketball as a whole and especially to the youth who have aspired to play the game at the highest level.
Another lingering question will be how the Toronto Raptors address this issue.
Arguably the most talented Canadian to come out the NCAA ranks, Tristan Thompson in a Toronto Raptors uniform would absolutely fantastic for the city of Toronto.
If Tristan does declare and indeed come out will the Raptors make a move to get the prized Canadian?
