Talented Canadian point-guard Kevin Pangos commits to Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs

Talented Canadian point guard Kevin Pangos has given a verbal commitment to Head Coach Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The verbal inkage gives the Bulldogs a solid pass-first point-guard who also possesses the ability to knock down jumpers from the outside with consistency. Most importantly, Pangos has a great feel for the game and has been considered by many, including Leo Rautins as the next Steve Nash.

“It feels great,” said the six-foot-two Pangos, who is entering his senior season at Denison Secondary School in Newmarket, Ontario. “It’s a comfortable feeling, knowing where I’m going to go, and now I can focus on the upcoming school year.

For the second straight season, the Bulldogs roster will feature four Canadian basketball players on their roster as Coach Few and his staff continues to tap into Canada to find talent.

Canadian household names like Robert Sacre, Mangisto Arop and six-foot-eleven versatile big Kelly Olynyk will make the confines of Spokane Wash. a comfortable place for the incoming rookie.

“Gonzaga was just a great fit,” Pangos said. “With the Canadians being there, it’s an added bonus.”

Pangos joins Gongaza’s impressive 2011 class which also includes Gary Bell, Kyle Dranginis, Ryan Spangler and Chris Sarbaugh.

The Zags envision a future backcourt with Pangos and fellow 2011 recruit Gary Bell Jr. playing together.

Pangos said he had offers from Michigan, UNLV, Cincinnati, Portland, Boston College and Temple, but he listed his final three as Gonzaga, Virginia and Notre Dame.
