2012 Centre Sim Bullar is no stranger to attention, standing a 7-4 tall and weighing over 338 pounds the Canadian Big Men has been a coveted prize in recruiting circles for the past three years.
In fact it “Sometimes, it feels like you’re hanging around a rock star,” joked his AAU coach, Nicholas Davis. “Everybody wants their picture taken with him. In airports or hotel lobbies, people will just come over and grab him.”
After weeks of speculation and rumors Sim Bhullar signed with the Xavier Musketeers giving Head Coach Chris Mack a huge presence in the paint to work with.
Bhullar who plays for Huntington Prep in West Virginia was excited to end his recruiting trail early.
“Xavier was a great fit for me, the recruiting process was tough and long, but in the end I felt comfortable with the coaching staff, the campus and decided to commit and join a great program with a winning tradition.”
The Canadian big of Indian decent has come along way over the years and is still a work in progress like many other 7-footers to have come before him. He Will benefit greatly from the winning tradition of the Musketeers program and experience with raw and talented bigs who are willing to put in the effort to improve their game.
Coach Chris Mack’s roster already includes 7-0, 269 lbs Senior Kenny Fraser who was in similar situation as Bhullar and has worked extremely hard and is now generating buzz as a potential NBA pick.
The Musketeer faithfully are already looking at potential nick names for their incoming freshmen some options include: Simsation’, ‘The Real Sim Shady’, ‘Simalaya’
Bhullar also received serious interest from Michigan, Pittsburgh, Georgetown, Syracuse, and Wake Forest amongst others.
