Acadia Axemen 83 – Cape Breton Capers 81 (Overtime)
Having played four regular season games, the Cape Breton Capers and the Acadia Axemen are very familiar with each other. With a 2011 Final 8 spot on the line, the Capers barely survived a late fourth quarter run by Owen Klassen J. Boutilier as the Acadia Axemen forced overtime after trailing for the majority of the game.
The extra session was tight as expected, both teams traded baskets, missed free-throws and star players fouled out. Ultimately, the deciding play came from Axemen Guard Anthony Sears scored And1 basket to give Acadia a two point lead with 47 secs to play. The Capers came back to tie the game, but a questionable attempt by Paris Carter and questionable foul call by the sideline referee sent Sears to the line, where he iced the game with 4.3 to play.
