Hot Shooting Windsor Lancers Toast Saskatchewan Huskies at 2011 Graham Shootout

The Windsor Lancers buried 17 three-points on their way to scoring an 91-83 upset over tournament favorites and host Saskatchewan Huskies in the second day of the Graham Shootout.

Third-Year Guard Enrico Diloreto led four Lancers players in double-figures with 24 points, six rebounds and four assists. He connected on 5-of-11 three-pointers. Equal hot was his back-court partner Josh Collins who also buried 5-of-9 shots from downtown to finish the game with 19 points.

Fifth-year man Duncan Jones had another strong outing and lead the Huskies with 24 points. Peter Lomuro added 21 points. Nolan Brudehl was the games leading rebounder with 18 and 11 points.

With the Huskies leading 19-18 with 02:32 in the first quarter, Jahmal McQueen and Diloreto sparked an 8-2 run to end the period and give the Lancers a 26-21 lead – one they never relinquished.

The lead stretched to 49-38 at half-time.

The Lancers added six more three-pointers in the third period 70-60 before holding to improve their 2011-12 CIS Basketball preseason record to 5-8.

The lost snaps the Huskies three-game winning streak and drops their record to 3-1. The Alberta Golden Bears await Saskatchewan in the last game of the tournament.

The game will be a preview of a potential Canada West match-up.

Windsor gets back on the winning track and will wrap-up the tournament against the Acadia Axemen.

Game Notes
The Huskies played their second straight game without Jamelle Barett who is currently sidelined and is day-to-day.
