Andrew Wiggins & Biosteel stay true to Canadian roots with first commercial

Canadian sports drink and supplement company Biosteel continues to make a splash with it’s latest drop. Less than 15 days after announcing their exclusive sponsorship deal with 2014 NBA Draft pick Andrew Wiggins the proud Canadian based company dropped their first commercial and it’s a good one.

The 1:22 minute long commercial kicks off with a bang with the sound of an airplane hovering over a sign that congratulates Andrew Wiggins for his first overall pick. The inspirational and motivational feel and tone continues as images of “Marita Payne Park” (Park dedicate to his Wiggins’ mom) flash across the screen. Wiggins decked-out in black Biosteel hoodie is then joined by over 20 kids as he walks towards his old high school. Things turn up a notch as the beat kicks in and Toronto based hip-hop artist Tre Mission drops a short but sweet 16 bars over a banging beat.

“Running outta breath, going up and down the steps / even when you wanna stop and you looking at the clock and you ain’t gotta take a rest / going at it with the best / you in the big league that’s a test / welcome to the real world push it to the limit, BioSteel will do the rest / got my head above the sink / looking in the mirror what you think? / I can have any drink on the shelve but smart so I gotta drink the pink!”

Wiggins closes out the commercial with a heartfelt message as he sits in his old high school gym watching footage of his brother Nick Wiggins playing one-on-one with his father Mitch Wiggins.

Love and basketball? How how about politics and basketball?

The City of Toronto, it’s mayor and other constituents were put into scramble mode and forced to apologize after an absolutely disgusting and sickening video of a city staff removing a basketball rim at a local Toronto park — while a young kid was shooting and dribbling went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The video tweet has amassed worldwide attention, getting retweets from NBA players, national media outlets, outraged tax paying citizens and various other political organizations — prompting the City of Toronto to quickly issue an apologize and reverse its actions.

Canadian RJ Barrett sits down for a very candid interview with agent Bill Duffy and “The Boardroom” host — former no. 1 overall pick Jay Williams to discuss basketball including his business ambitions and aspirations.

Barrett is expected to be amongst the highest global sponsorship earners of his generation and is represented by agent Duffy — who has done over 3.5 billion dollars in contract negotiations and also represented Canada’s greatest basketball player to date and RJ’s very own Godfather Steve Nash.

Under Duffy’s direction, Barrett is expected to capitalize on the immediate rise of Canadian Basketball and the national corporate entities looking for an immediate association with the rapid growing sport.

Barrett has already inked deals with financial powerhouse Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), and global leader in made to measure apparel company INDOCHINO — which costumed designed his memorable draft night suit.

Globally, with Barrett’s ability to speak French, Duffy also sees a market in China but as well as untapped African market. After all, Duffy is somewhat responsible for Yao Ming’s massive success in the Asian-Pacific markets.

When it’s all said and done, Barrett stands a chance at being Canada’s top-earning athlete, both in salary earnings and corporate dollars.
