US to play Spain in tuneup for Turkey 2010 basketball worlds

The United States will prepare for the basketball world championships with an exhibition game against Spain in an August rematch of the Beijing Olympic final.

Governing body FIBA said Sunday that defending world champion Spain will host the Americans on Aug. 22 in Madrid in their last tuneup before the tournament.

The Americans beat Spain 118-107 in the 2008 Olympic final. Spain beat Greece in Japan for the world title four years ago.

The world championships will be held in Turkey from Aug. 29-Sept. 12.

The U.S. has been drawn into Group B with Croatia, Slovenia, Brazil, Iran and Tunisia, while Spain is in Group D alongside France, New Zealand, Lithuania, Lebanon and Canada.
