Shaquille O’Neal runs a ‘Power Move’ with Reebok show

The six-part ‘Power Moves With Shaquille O’Neal’ series on Netflix looks to revive Reebok under some “Shaq-nosis.”

Icons don’t come much bigger than Shaquille O’Neal, the “Most Dominant Ever.” He is the star of the new documentary series ‘Power Moves with Shaquille O’Neal’ on Netflix, which explores his new role in retirement with Reebok.

The Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Lakers legend is one of the best big men in NBA history, whether we’re talking about Wilt, Kareem, or one of his idols, Patrick Ewing.

With the Reebok Pumps, that New York Knickerbockers great was one of the storied sports company Reebok’s signature stars, as was Shaq. In recent times, however, the company has suffered since its acquisition by the giant Adidas, effectively being taken off the basketball floor and the courts of consideration.

Nike will always be number one, as we see O’Neal’s hilariously joking disdain for his competitor here. With the recent rise of brands like Under Armour, it seems that Reebok has been relegated to a “Classic.”

That won’t continue to happen if Shaq-Daddy has anything to say about it.

The new POTUS of RBK aims to make the brand as big as it was under his leadership, hypnotizing everyone with his Notorious B.I.G. persona.

Do you think it’s an impossible task? Don’t you remember that this explosive TNT commentator is an immovable force? Now, if you need any more answers, just ask the VP.

No other than Allen Iverson, who made Reebok his own. No question.

Nothing was greater than those commercials with Jadakiss, except maybe the Steve Francis Reebok ads with Scarface (what a time to be ‘The Franchise’). It was great to see hip-hop and hoops coming together again, much like Shaq’s rap career. Not to mention Iverson’s too explicit for the Commissioner album.

Shaquille O’Neal gets top billing in season one of Netflix’s ‘Power Moves’, but expect more to come as The Big Aristotle and A.I. cross over into new basketball territory.

Shaq knows sneakers. He once even made one of his sneakers into a mobile phone during an All-Star game back in the day. Allen couldn’t believe it worked, too.

So, who are you going to call?

Landing the likes of MVP SGA (OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander) and other NBA stars will be hard in this series (and we think you already know some of the outcomes), but Shaq’s Reebok team sees the roots of new beginnings in the G-League.

The same G-League player as Shaq’s son, Shareef O’Neal, is aiming to get back to the league after almost making it with none other than the Lakers. Shaquille is weary, though, after his son’s life-threatening heart surgery, not to mention his name. He doesn’t want his boy to go through the same thing that Bronny James has.

Getting candid for the cameras, Shaq would rather that Shareef work with him in the new family company. Like father, like son.

Back to business, a solution for Reebok may come in the WNBA with the likes of DiJonai Carrington and Angel Reese, whose rivalry with the new face of the W, Caitlin Clark, is like today’s new Bird and Magic.

Released this year, the Reebok Engine-A in perfect chrome and paint is stepping back out on the floor and all over the competition. The rest is history that’s about to be made for a brand that boasts survival, as well as loyalty and longevity, in its storied past.

Another sports show from Netflix slam-dunks its basketball broadcasts, and as Shaq runs a power move on them, Chuck, you’ll be reminded why he remains one of the game’s greatest personalities. Hilarious and heartfelt as he gives out sneakers like Oprah gives cars, even Iverson’s iced-out cool is melted by Shaq’s soul.

It’s great to see two of basketball’s best chop it up, whether they’re talking about old times—like their rivalry in one of the best NBA Finals ever (2001)—or exploring a new venture together.

Iverson to O’Neal, decked out in Reebok. President and Vice President. That move is all power.
