Wearing custom Knicks gear, the iconic Staten Island collective tailored much of its performance to the home crowd.
RZA opened the set with a Knicks-inspired twist on one of the group’s most recognizable lyrics.
“Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthing ta F’ Wit” became:
“New York Knicks ain’t nothing to fuss with.”
The crowd responded immediately.
Method Man followed with “M.E.T.H.O.D. Man,” repeatedly urging the Garden crowd to raise the energy level.
“Let’s bring the energy up,” he shouted.
Raekwon later put his own Knicks spin on the classic “C.R.E.A.M.,” rapping:
“I got with the New York Knicks and went all out.”
At the time, the performance seemed like an attempt to lift the spirits of a fan base watching its team trail by nearly 30 points.
