Baylor Bears pick-up Montreal JUCO guard Kenny Chery

Add yet another Canadian to a major NCAA D1 program.

Montreal’s Kenny Chery has announced that he will be joining the Baylor Bears of the Big 12 conference in 2013.

Chery is a product of Montreal’s Brookwood Elite AAU team and has had stops at Archbishop Carroll in Washington, DC. Most recently, he played at the JUCO level where he averaged 14 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 26 games for State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri.

The Bears roster already features sharp-shooting Canadian Brady Heslip, who hails from Burlington, Ontario.

During his time in Canada, Fred Cherry also had stints with the Canadian junior national team during the 2010 FIBA Americas zone qualifiers, where he averaged close to 15 minutes.

In Cherry, the Bears are getting a guard who has proven to be able to score the ball and push the tempo. Baylor will lose senior starting guard Pierre Jackson to graduation at the end of the year, and by the time Cherry arrives in Waco, Texas, two other guards will be in their final year of eligibility.
