Top 10 Performers: 2011-12 BasketballBuzz CIS Men’s Basketball Week 5

Below are the Top 10 performances for the final week of the first-half of the 2011 CIS Men’s Basketball season.

Jimmy Dorsey – Cape Breton Capers – AUS
Notched his first triple-double of the year after coming up just short a few weeks ago. He currently leads the nation in assists and is posting some salivating numbers, 20 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Dec 2. vs. St. Mary’s Huskies W, 106-84: 19 points (7/13 FG, 1/5 3FG, 4/4 FT) 10 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals

Jeremy Dunn – ST.FX – AUS
Dunn put the X-men on his back and scored 15 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth quarter as St. Francis stayed unbeaten at the break.

Nov 29. vs. St. Mary’s Huskies W, 93-90: 35 points (10/18 FG, 5/10 3FG, 10/10 FT) 7 rebounds, 6 assists 2 steals

Warren Ward – Ottawa Gee-Gees – OUA
Another week, another appearance for Ward in the Top 10. The Gee-Gees captain has scored 20 points or more in 6 of the Gee-Gees first 8 games.

Dec 2. vs. Laurier Golden Hawks W, 77-76: 23 points (10/24 FG, 0/5 3FG, 3/4 FT) 5 rebounds, 2 assists 3 steals
Dec 3. vs. Waterloo Warriors W, 119-76: 27 Points (10/19 FG, 2/4 3FG, 6/7 FT) 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals

Kevin Oliver – Manitoba Bisons – CW
Oliver a fourth-year 6’7 guard/forward is enjoying a fine season and is a primary reason why the Bisons have remained in the hunt in a tightly bunched Canada West conference.

Dec 1. vs. Winnipeg Wesmen W, 99-80: 19 points (5/12 FG, 3/5 3FG, 6/7 FT) 12 rebounds, 6 assists 3 steals

Victor Raso – McMaster Marauders – OUA
Victor Raso, the son of longtime (18 years) Marauders head coach Joe Raso is the leading scorer on well-balanced defensive minded team that went 8-1 in the first-half.

Dec 2. vs. Toronto Blues W, 78-60: 19 points (7/11 FG, 3/5 3FG, 2/3 FT) 8 rebounds, 3 steals
Dec 3. vs. Ryerson Rams W, 86-73: 23 Points (6/14 FG, 3/8 3FG, 8/8 FT) 6 rebounds, 5 assists

Kale Harrison – Laurier Golden Hawks – OUA
Harrison followed-up where he left off last week and hit a sweet game winning three-pointer as the Golden hawks escaped Ottawa with a split.

Dec 2. vs. Ottawa Gee-Gees W, 77-74: 31 points (6/11 FG, 2/2 3FG,  7/8 FT) 4 rebounds
Dec 3. vs.Carleton Ravens L, 84-68: 10 Points (4/11 FG,  0/1 3-FG,  2/3 FT) 7 rebounds, 3 assists

Mike Hull – Laurentian Voyageurs – OUA
After a few mediocre performances the Voyageurs big men put forth two solid outings unfortunately it didn’t translate into wins.

Dec 2. vs. Guelph Gryphons L, 76-79: 21 points (9/14 FG, 0/1 3FG, 3/5 FT) 9 rebounds,  4 steals, 2 blocks
Dec 3. vs. Lakehead Thunderwolves L, 95-99: 18 Points (7/18 FG, 4/4 FT) 8 rebounds

Mark Gibson – Brock Badgers – OUA
Two strong double-doubles for Gibson, a fourth-year Toronto native forward. The Badgers will need more contributions like these to ensure that they remain at top of the standings.

Dec 2. vs. Ryerson Rams L, 84-60: 15 points (6/11 FG,  3/7 FT) 11 rebounds,  2 assists
Dec 3. vs.Toronto Blues W, 95-55: 20 Points (9/15 FG,  2/2 FT) 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals

Jahmal Jones – Ryerson Rams – OUA
Jones has to be in the conversation for Top 10 point guards in the league. Dished out 11 helpers as the Rams upset the Badgers.

Dec 2. vs. Brock Badgers W, 84-60: 11 points (6/11 FG,  3/7 FT) 6 rebounds,  11 assists
Dec 3. vs.McMaster L, 73-86: 15 Points (9/15 FG,  2/2 FT) 6 rebounds, 8 assists

Lien Phillip – Windsor Lancers – OUA
The competition wasn’t all that last week, limiting his output, still Phillip managed to have his third straight game with 12 or more rebounds.

Dec 2. vs. RMC Paladins W, 89-51: 9 points (4/10 FG, 0/2 3FG, 1/2 FT) 12 rebounds
Dec 3. vs.Queens Golden Gaels W, 74-56: 17 Points (8/12 FG,  0/1 3-FG, 1/2 FT) 14 rebounds

Honorable Mention(s)

Ryan Barbeau – Western Mustangs – OUA
Barbeau poured in six three-pointers on his way to scoring his 1000th career point.

Dec 2. vs.Queens Golden Gaels W, 85-64: 32 Points (10/17 FG, 6/7 3-FG, 6/7 FT) 6 assists, 3 steals
Dec 3. vs. RMC Paladins W, 89-51: DNP
