Canadian, Alymer/Ottawa native Olivier Hanlan got social media buzzing by setting the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) tournament record by pouring a career-high 41 points to lead the Boston College Eagles past the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 84-64 in quarter-finals of the conference tournament.
Hanlan was unstoppable for much of the year on his way too ACC Rookie of the year honors, but the Canadian product who is also a member of Canada’s Junior program kick it in another level by breaking the former record (40 points) set by UNC’s Harrison Barnes.
George Tech opened the game on a 15-0 run before Hanlan caught fire to finish with 19 points at half-time. The second half was even more impressive with the 6’3 guard scored 32 points on his final 12 shots. 8-of-8 threes, 4-of-4 twos.
The #8 Eagles will now face the #1 seed Miami Hurricanes in the next round.
