Jimmy Dorsey – Cape Breton Capers – AUS Jimmy Dorsey’s outstanding two-game explosion just about wraps-up the 2011-12 AUS Men’s basketball player-of-the-year conversation, and now opens up the debate of who should take the national award. The 49-point barrage ranks as the sixth greatest single-game scoring outputs in the Atlantic Coast.

Ryan Barbeau – Western Mustangs – OUA Barbeau turned it into high-gear and cashed in on career-high 46-point game. The OUA West player-of-the-year award is still up for grabs and Barbeau continues to make a strong case, and could win the award if the Mustangs somehow get into the playoffs.

Jamelle Barrett – Saskatchewan Huskies – CW The premier point guard man in Canada West has the Huskies rolling towards the playoffs and another Final 8 appearance in Halifax. Barrett continues to look more and more like the 2010-11 BasketbalBuzz CIS Men’s Basketball POY recipient and is a lock for All-Canadians honors once again.

Michael Lieffers -– Saskatchewan Huskies – CW As good as it gets right here from Lieffers. Two monster double-doubles to help solidify a spot on the all-conference list. Lieffers is averaging 17.8 points and 15.8 rebounds over his last-five games.

Lien Phillip – Windsor Lancers – OUA Phillip checks in with his best performances of the season notching season-highs in points, rebounds and field goal attempts.With two games remaining the former IMG Basketball Academy (Florida) prospect is a lock to lead the country in rebounds after falling just short last year.

Tyler Fidler – Calgary Dions – CW Fidler concluded his final regular season of Canada West play with two top notch games, and has averaged 27.6 points and 10 rebounds over the Dinos last three games to help secure an improbably playoff berth.

Venzal Russell – Lakehead Thunderwolves – OUA Venzal Russell resurfaces with back-to-back double-doubles on the glass by pulling down a season-high 13 rebounds. Is anybody else buying the Venzal Russell sweepstakes for OUA West POY? The best player on a squad which has an overall record of 29-2.

Kamar Burke – UBC Thunderbirds – CW Burke is one those guys that does whatever it takes to win. The fifth-senior was the catalyst at both ends last week with a gorilla like double-deuce as the Thunderbirds inched closer to hosting the Canada West Final Four.

Jordon Gauthier – Ryerson Rams- OUA Flying under the radar this season is Jordon Gauthier of the Ryerson Rams. The 6’3″, 210 lbs Guard has banged his way to three-straight 20-plus games as the Rams head into the final two games of the regular season looking to capture a second place finish in the OUA East.

Feb 11. vs. Laurentian Voyageurs W, 100-80: 23 points (8/17 FG, 4/6 3FG, 3/5 FT) 7 rebounds, 2 steals
Terry Thomas – St. FX – AUS It’s crazy to think that Thomas is only a sophomore and is already getting All-Canadian love. The 6’4 East Preston (Auburn Drive HS) representative is leading the X-men in points per game (18.6), rebounds (8.6), steals (3.2) and blocked shots (1.1) and is the top offensive rebounding guard in the country, with an impressive 3.3 per game. Michael Lieffers tops all players with a 4.4 average.

Honorable Mention(s):
Tim Hunter – Bishops Gaiters – RSEQ We dug extra deep to find this one but with two qualities wins against Quebec’s top dogs it was hard to ignore the fourth-year, 6’7, 180 lbs, forward. The Gaiters have won 3-of-their-last-5 and are eying a last minute playoff spot after enduring an 0-7 start to season. Hunter is averaging 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds (both team-highs) and 2.5 assists on the year.
