Canadian Kevin Pangos put on a show in one of the best performances of his career to help Russia’s Zenit St. Petersburg defeat Greece’s Panathinaikos in the final day of league play to qualify to the EuroLeague playoffs for the first-time.
Pangos buried 10-of-15 field goals, 7-of-12 three-pointers to set an international career-high with 33 points. The six-year pro also added 11 assists in the 112-83 win.
During his NCAA basketball years, the Canadian guard scored a collegiate best 34 points against the Arkansas Razorbacks at the 2013 Maui Jim Maui Invitational.
The 28-year-old guard is averaging 13.1 points, 6.7 assists and 2 rebounds in 34 EuroLeague games.
Zenit will take on Pangos’ former team, in their best of five EuroLeague quarter-finals series. Pangos played two and half seasons for Barcelona for before moving on to St. Petersburg.
