Gatorade League Lakers Have A ‘Soirée By The Bay’ In Midnight Blue

These Hollywood Nights go on for the Lakers in South Bay.

This year the Los Angeles ‘City Edition’ jerseys no longer took to the ‘Lights Out’ look of Mamba snakeskin black. Except pulling a ‘Lore Series’ Magic out the hat like a rabbit with those purple pinstripes that are growing on us like the Yankee distracting ones after some initial Jim Carrey ‘Dumb and Dumber’ throwing up GIF reactions. And you have to love the Los Angeles Lakers full name being front and centre on the heart pounding part of the uniform.

But it sure would look better in black.

It’s a good job their G-League affiliate the South Bay Lakers aren’t taking a Gatorade break and are going back to all that.

Their Midnight Blue jerseys of Tron neon blue on downtown at night black shine like STAPLES at game night with LeBron’s Nike billboards in across the road witness. Even though they reside all the way down in South Bay, California. But last night for purist Laker fans wishes came true even if the teams sponsor is upfront in larger font than the actual franchise faces name.

Former L.A. player Coby Karl’s South Bay Lakers celebrated all this yesterday evening with a great party worthy of a Gatsby with their ‘Soirée On The Bay’ rivalling Hollywood Night. Welcoming their Phoenix Pacific partner affiliate the North Arizona Suns (in their own sunlight scorching threads) with a 119-114 win. And if that wasn’t enough, Lakers rookie assigned to South Bay like your Wear’s and Caruso’s, Svi Mykhailiuk had 47 points, tying the most of any G-League player in association this year.

The player who regularly closes out LA Lakers wins from downtown with threes like nobody elses business can do (call him back up). Even if 30 plus years, legendary Laker announcer Lawrence Tanter struggled at first to say his name. More or less saying number 10 for three. But Mykhailiuk may just have a better effect on the Los Angeles Lakers then the last player they had wearing number ten.

And that was Steve Nash.

Forget if it’s a mouthful or an autocorrect. Show respect. Soon you’ll be spelling his name right.

It for sure looks like the team who drafted Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, D’Angelo Russell, Larry Nance Jr, Brandon Ingram, Ivica Zubac (told you), Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart. Not to mention Alex Caruso (who had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, a block and a career-high 8 steals in this contest), Travis Wear (14), Isaac Bonga and Moe (just you wait) Wagner really know how to pick ’em. And with the additional tutoring in the South Bay G-League program (that has even seen returning from injury stars like Ingram and Rondo with assignments) there’s no wonder why fans aren’t eager for Magic and LeBron to trade away the best young core in the league for the biggest of big men, Anthony Davis.

Besides what goods a Soirée if the whole team aren’t welcome?

Time to watch the Bay.
